Description

The iconic Gamble House, built by architects Charles and Henry Greene, is a lasting example of Arts and Crafts architecture. The home was built for David Gamble of Procter and Gamble Company and his family beginning in March of 1908 and was completed January 1909. The home remained with the family until 1966 when it was given over to the city of Pasadena as well as the USC School of Architecture.

The architecture shows influence from Japanese culture, as well as the Arts and Crafts style with the California setting. The interiors of the home are outfitted with various types of woods to bring out contrasts and tones.

The Gamble House has been a National Historic Landmark since 1977 and is truly a great example of American architecture.
